Hugh Alexander Gilmour

February 14, 1933 – December 29, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce Hugh’s passing on Thursday, December 29, 2016.

Hugh was born in Nanaimo and moved to Qualicum Beach with his wife, Isabel, in 1958 where they raised their three children. Hugh worked as a lineman for BC Hydro for 30 years. He was an active member of the community serving as Fire Chief, President of Minor Hockey, coach of girls’ softball and chartered member of the local curling club. Hugh was a lover of nature and animals. He was an avid gardener, specializing in the growing of dahlias.

Hugh is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Isabel; daughters, Susan (Don) Hunter and Stacey (Greg) Kennedy; son, Jeff Gilmour; seven grandchildren, Caleb, Taylor, Joel, Allison, Ryan, Hilary and Stewart; two great granddaughters, Ana and Makaiah. He is also survived by his siblings, Eileen Ratelle, Ray Gilmour, Jack Gilmour, and many nieces and nephews.

Hugh will be sadly missed by all and forever in our hearts.

There will be no service by Hugh’s request. Donations may be made

to the charity of your choice in his memory, if so desired.
