Granny’s gone to Heaven and a loving mother will be sorely missed. She was born Irene Morley in Big Valley, Alberta. She and her family moved to Coombs in 1932. In 1939 she married George Ward and they established themselves actively in the community. Irene was active in the Agricultural Association, Parent/Teacher Association and Triple C’s . (Irene was pre-deceased by her husband George in 2001)
Proud to be a Homemaker with a capital “H”, she and George raised four children: Rusty (Coke), Sue Bosecker(Glen Newmeyer), Georgia and Terry(Jan). She delighted in caring for and playing with her eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Her apple pie was renowned and there were always cookies at Granny’s house.
Irene passed peacefully at her home in Coombs on Tues. July 3rd. Loving caregivers Terry & Jan, Bonny, Penny, Christine & Ursula made it possible for Irene to spend her final years in comfort in her own home. Thank you. She had a wonderful life and will be lovingly remembered by family and many friends.
Funeral services were held at Parksville Funeral Chapel, 1000 Allsbrook Rd., Parksville on Monday, July 9th at1:00 p.m. followed by internment in the Cemetery. Fellowship tea followed in the reception room.
