Iris Lucille Dryden passed away peacefully at Fir Park Village on October 13th, 2013 with her family by her side. She was born in Meota, Sask. on August 7th, 1927 and
married George on July 1st, 1951 in North Battleford, Sask. and lived in numerous places before making her way to Port Alberni in 1969 in the middle of a snow storm. She lived with her husband, George, in Port Alberni until 1993, they then moved to Parkville to be closer to their grandchildren.
After the death of her husband, George, she lived with her daughter, Joey, in Parksville until her stroke in 2009 which brought her back to Port Alberni to live at Fir Park Village.
Iris worked at Zellers on third avenue for many years and also at K-Mart. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and, while living in Parksville, was an active member of the Seniors Centre.
Predeceased by her husband, George Dryden in 2002, grandson, Matthew Taron in 1986; her brothers, Glenn, Ersul and Bud and sister Bernice, Iris is survived by her daughters, Deb Dryden Knoll (Len), granddaughters Kari Knoll (Brent) and grandchildren Alex and Megan Simpso), granddaughter Tricia Knoll, daughter
Joanna Cyr (Marcel) and son John Dryden (Kris). Also survived by her grandson Sean Taron (Ashley), great children Brooklynn and Sean Taron, and grandaughter Tanya Taron (Andrew Jones).
A tea will be held in her honor at Debbie’s house, 7790 Pacific Rim Highway, Port Alberni on Sunday, October 20th, 2013 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm.
