James Sidney Dell, known to friends as "Jim", passed away on October 2, 2019, at the age of 80. Jim is survived by his wife of 23 years, Bonnie Mardis; children: Cheryl (John), Laureen (Marc) and Colin (Heather); grandchildren: Samantha, Alexandra, Justin and Evan; and former wife, Carol. He was predeceased by his parents, Mildred and Sidney Dell.
Jim was born on June 14, 1939 in St. Thomas, Ontario. He graduated from Ryerson Institute of Technology in 1960 with a degree in Electrical Technology, the University of Michigan in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and the University of Ottawa in 1978 with an MBA. For most of his career Jim worked at Bell Canada in Ottawa where he
spent his leisure time sailing and competing in Chito-Ryu Karate. In 1998 he retired to Parksville, British Columbia where he was an avid skier, cyclist, runner, hiker and scuba diver who loved to travel.
