Janet Mary Howes

With great sadness the family of Janet Mary Howes announce her passing on December 30, 2022, peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit at Nanaimo General Hospital with family at her side.
Loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, Janet is survived by husband Larry, children Ken (Jennifer), Gary and Andrea (Nick), grandchildren Tejana, Damyen and Daxton, loving nieces and nephew, brother Richard (Jane), and many other relatives and friends in Australia and England.
Janet was born in Stoke-on-Trent, England, before emigrating to Australia as a young girl where she eventually attended teachers' college and began her career as an elementary school teacher. Ever fond of travel and exploring the world, Janet taught in schools in Queensland, Australia, Nottingham, England and finally in Canada. It was while teaching in Port Alberni in the 1960's that she met her husband of 55 years, and together they started a family, moving to Parksville where Jan continued to teach until retiring in 1998.
Always cheerful, engaging, keenly interested in the world, generous with her time, and devoted to her family, Janet filled our lives with loving kindness. She was loved by us all and will be deeply missed, but forever remembered in our hearts for her warmth and kindness.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 12 -4 PM at the Bayside Resort, 240 Dogwood St. Parksville, BC.
