FOOTE, Joan Rosamond
1922 – 2014
Joan Rosamond Foote (nee Hollins), born March 15, 1922 in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan and died November 13, 2014 in Calgary, Alberta. Joan was predeceased by her husband Fred Foote on January 30, 1984 in Victoria, BC. Joan is survived by her daughter Sandra Holliday of Yellowknife, NT and her son Christopher Foote (Irene) of Calgary, Alberta. Joan also leaves behind four grandchildren and five great grandchildren as well as two living sisters, Freda Trill in Victoria, BC and Sylvia Trek in Gibsons, BC. Joan was predeceased by her sister Stella Stovel and brother Hugh Hollins. Joan had a variety of jobs in her life including many years working in the retail sector. Joan was an accomplished seamstress and knitter and in her latter years loved playing golf. Although born in Saskatchewan Joan’s heart was in Qualicum Beach, BC where she lived until 2008.
Joan’s words to her family and friends:
“When I come to the end of the road,
And the sun has set for me,
I want no tears or gloom-filled room …
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little – but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love we always shared,
Miss me, but let me go.”
