It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of Joanne McIver. Predeceased by her husband Tom in 2003, Joanne lived 88 great years surrounded by amazing family and friends.
Born in Calgary, Alberta to Margaret and Allan “Pete” Smith, Joanne was sister to Richard (Dick), Dorothy, Ford, Ruth, Bill and Valerie. Joanne is survived by her children Carey (Annabel), Scott, Kristine (Roger) and grandchildren Alexandra and Hayden as well as many nieces and nephews.
Joanne and Tom retired to Qualicum Beach in 1980 where they led a full and active retired life including lots of golf and volunteering.
Joanne is remembered for her knack for telling jokes, dance moves, active lifestyle, family dinners and unwavering love of family and friends. The last three years in a care facility were difficult, however she faced them with her usual equanimity, grace and good humour.
Our family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at the Qualicum Manor. Your exceptional care and kind support has been very much appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held August 29, 2015 on the beach in Qualicum at Welch Park, 1234 Island Highway starting at 1:00pm - everyone welcome.
Memorial donations may be made to the CNIB or to the Parkinson’s Society of BC.
