1943 - 2011

Mike passed away at home, in Nanoose, January 27th, after losing his struggle with leukemia. Mike worked in personnel and property management for Public Works in Goose Bay, Charlottetown, Halifax, St. John and

Ottawa. He came to Nanoose in 2000 to rejoin Nancy after 27 years. He was easy going and generous, with a dry sense of humor. He was a voracious reader and you never knew if he would be researching chickens, nuclear fission or the perfect chili recipe! Mike was most at ease playing and "dreaming" about possibilities on the acreage – chain saw in hand, stock piling wood for next winter. Saturday morning always included a hunt for that special treasure and "must-have" at neighborhood yard sales.

Mike is son of the late John and Johanna McDonald of Montreal. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy; his siblings Mary Deskin and Sheila Mosher; daughters Lana, Pamela and Rachael ( Rob) Lund; Grandchildren:

Taylor, Dustin, Emily, Martina, and Dawson in PEI; step-children: Anna-Maria, Jakob and Joshua LeMaistre. Mike will be missed by cousins, nieces, nephews, brother and sister in-laws , friends and neighbors and his

special buddies Bill, Frank, Malcolm and Peter.

A special thank you to the NRGH Medical Day Care staff, Nursing Home Care and Dr. Desai for their attentive and compassionate care. In his memory donations can be made to a charity of your choice. A Memorial Celebration in honor of Mike's life will be held in April.

" As long as there is someone who loves us, we will remain alive.

Memories make us immortal. In truth, love will outlive even memories." Leo Buscaglia
