Beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Jack, passed suddenly, leaving a life of many wonderful times and significant moments.
He was predeceased by his parents Dick and Vera; his siblings Bill, Audrey, and Beverly; several brothers-in-law; niece Ruth; and nephew Greig. Jack will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years, Jacquie; children Karen (Jack), Rick (Janet) and Thane (Kirsten); grandchildren Neil, Melanie, Jason, Evan, Melissa, Michelle, Elizabeth and Merek; sisters Glenna and Marilyn (Brownie); brothers-in-law J.B. Mellor (Carol) and Arnold Steed; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack spent his working life at businesses such as Insurance Gardiner Agencies, Newstead Insurance, and J.R. Pipes Business Systems Ltd. He was involved and initiated several programs with the BC Amateur Hockey Association. He was instrumental in the organization of the Minor Hockey Association at the Racquet Club of Victoria and Oak Bay Rec Cente In his retirement he volunteered for numerous community groups including the Restorative Justice and Allied Support Group as well as federal and provincial election campaigns on behalf of several local candidates. He was a graduate of Oak Bay High School.
Simplicity was the essence of Jack’s life and his example will influence us forever. His happiest times were spent with his family, his rural lifestyle and the great outdoors. Jack exuded a quiet confidence and inner peace that accompanies a good marriage and an innate understanding of life’s priorities.

Jack’s memory will be honoured on July 20, 2012 at 5pm at Merridale Estate Cidery,1230 Merridale Road, Cobble Hill.
