Kenneth James Bennett

June 22, 1937 – December 21, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ken on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the hospital in Nanaimo, BC. He was 79.

Surviving Ken is his daughter, Cheryl (Peter) McFadden; granddaughters, Ashley and Krista; sister, Gloria Johnson; brother, Ron (Hanna) Bennett; many extended family members; and of course, all of his friends including his most special friend, Lorraine Young.

Ken worked in the trades as a plumber, gasfitter, and pipefitter. He owned his own companies for most of his working career. For many years, he owned and flew his own airplane which allowed him the ability to access work in remote areas of northern Canada and the Arctic. As an avid outdoorsman, this also allowed him to enjoy his favourite pastimes of hunting and fishing.

During the 1990’s he was very involved with the Peruvian Paso Horse Association, breeding and showing horses.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Ken’s honour from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 4th, 2017 in the Clubhouse at Surfside RV Resort in Parksville, BC.

Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, please consider honouring Ken’s memory by making a donation in his name to either the Canadian Cancer Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
