MacDonald, Madeleine Cherie

June 22, 1938 – December 2, 2016

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Madeleine after a lengthy illness.

Born in Dryden, Ontario on June 22, 1938, the youngest of three children of Blanche and Art Foster.

The family moved to Winnipeg where Madeleine attended Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and later The University of Winnipeg as a mature student, finishing her Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education at the University of Alberta and going on to teach at St. John’s School for Boys and Alberta College. It was a short but rewarding career, as she and husband Glen took early retirement and moved to Qualicum Beach in 1993.

There, she spent a lot of time doing family genealogy. Another of the many things she enjoyed was dancing, as she really felt the music. Even at the Seniors’ Home, when they had entertainment, she would be up, clapping to the music and moving.

Although dementia gradually took Madeleine from us, she still maintained her caring and concerned nature and never lost her sense of humour.

Madeleine will be lovingly missed by her husband of 59 years, Glen, son Glen, grandson Ryan, son Marty (Sue), son Scott (Lupina) and brother Dollard.

Prayers and a family Celebration of Life has been held and

many more will be held at family gatherings, remembering &

honouring this wonderful woman, wife, mother and friend.

The family would like to thank the staff at Wexford Creek, Stanford Place and Nanaimo Hospital for her short stay in each of these facilities and to Qualicum Beach Funeral Centre for compassionate and professional service.
