Mel passed away peacefully at his home in Parksville surrounded by loving family. He leaves behind his wife and friend Gwen: daughters Deborah (Ron) Kach - Regina, Sask; Brenda (Steve) Lane - Burlington ON; Twyla (Harvey) Lindstrom - Edmonton AB; Paula (Ray), Cameron Sudlow -Parksville, BC: sons Peter of Ottawa, ON and Stephen (Misa) of Atlanta, GA: grandchildren Darlene, Kristen, Cameron, Allison, Dorian, Alyssa, Linden, Erica, Jordan, Alex, Patrick and Haley: and great grandchild Adam. He was predeceased by his parents Manny and Josie Lindstrom and brother Bill.
Mel spent his working years as a stationary engineer in Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Weyburn and Prince Albert, Sask. with various government departments, and as a boiler inspector in Prince Albert and Saskatoon. A life long love of learning drew him to university classes, culminating in a Master of Divinity, ordination to Anglican priesthood and time serving the parish of Delisle/Pike Lake, Sask. BC beckoned in 1996 and life was enjoyed in Parksville.
The family would like to thank Home Care staff and Oceanside Hospice Society.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Edmunds Anglican Church, 407 Wembley Rd, Parksville.
