Passed away peacefully at the Penticton Hospital on January 6, 2011. She was born in Port Aurther (Thunder Bay, Ontario) in 1917. Mildred was predeceased by her husband; Joseph (1972), parents; Mary and Harry Nicholson and sisters; Dorothy and Norma (Pinky). Lovingly known as Mickey to her family, she enlisted in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps at the outbreak of WWII. She met her husband (Joe) while training at Shilo. They were married in Victoria, BC in 1945 following the war. Mickey remained in Victoria throughout, raising their family, two sons, Gary (Sharon) of Victoria, BC and Ron (Maureen) of Penticton, BC. Mickey dedicated her life to making a comfortable home, raising her sons and thereafter loving and tending to her four grandchildren; Erinn (Aaron), Garry (Ahn), Michael and Shelley. She will be sadly missed by all, as well as Karen and Joan. She had two great grandchildren; Adam, age four and Anna Marie, age 2. Mom was a dedicated, loving parent and grandparent who will be remembered for her warmth, caring, and cosy always welcoming home; the gathering place for our family and her friends She enjoyed bowling, shopping with her granddaughters, watching her grandsons play hockey, big family meals and being the sounding board for our accomplishments and problems alike.
