OKKO KORVEMAKER

September 9, 1928 – December 9, 2014

After a brief battle with cancer complicated by many other health issues, Okko died peacefully at Stanford Place, Tuesday morning, December 9, and is now with mom safely in the arms of Jesus.

Okko was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Nov. 2010), and his brothers Willem and Jan, as well as his sisters Annie and Lukie.

He is survived by his children Jan, Roelf (Val) and Willem (Lori Jean); his grandchildren RJ, Matt, Heather, Jasmine, and Robert and his great-granddaughter Seraphim; and one remaining sister Lammie in the Netherlands.

Okko was born in 1928, in the Netherlands where he was married to Elizabeth (Lies) in 1954. They packed up the family in 1966 and immigrated to Victoria, Canada. They were very involved with the Christian Reformed Church in Victoria, and when they moved to Parksville in 1992, they joined St. Columba Presbyterian Church. They were also very involved in 5-pin bowling as well as being members of the Parksville Lawn Bowling Club.

Heartfelt thanks goes to the staff of Stanford Place for all that they did for mom and dad. Dad had resided there for nearly 5 years and was very much loved by all. You bent over backwards to make him comfortable and at peace these last couple of months. He loved you all (residents and staff) and considered you his second family for which we will always be grateful.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a

donation to the charity of your choice.

Beyond earth’s sorrows, the joys of heaven;

Eternal blessings with Christ my Lord;

Earth’s weeping ended, earth’s trial over,

Sweet rest in Jesus, O Blest reward!
