RICHARD C.(DICK) BOLTON

Richard was born June 16,1930 in Newcastle-on-Tyne, England. He didn’t have many happy childhood memories as he was evacuated during the war years. He used to tell our children about his bicycle with no tires and the fact that he had to make any toys he had.

He was a self-made man with a very strong work ethic. He had a few rough edges which were all smoothed out once he met his wife, Cathryn. They were married for nearly 54 years. Dick worked in Jamaica, British Guiana-South America and Kitimat BC with the Aluminium Co of Canada. His legacy is his children---son-David(Debbie); daughter-Cynthia(Kevin) as well as 2 grand- daughters-Nicola and Natalie.

Although he was 29 years old when he discovered GOLF, it became his passion. As an avid golfer his Retirement dream was fulfilled in 1992 when he moved to the 4th hole on Eaglecrest Golf Course in Qualicum Beach. This dream was somewhat shattered in May 1993 when he suffered a stroke. Like every obstacle in his life he rose above his misfortune. He managed to continue doing his woodworking projects ,travel and golf (just not as well as before) for the next 17 years .Every thing he did was done with 110 % of his effort. He could fix most things, as he was creative and innovative, except his body. He endured many health issues during his Retirement until finally his body gave up and he passed away peacefully June 11,2017 (5 days short of his 87th Birthday)

As he was instrumental in building the back 9 holes at the HIRSCH CREEK GOLF COURSE in Kitimat, his ashes will be scattered there so he can keep an eye on his contribution to the Community of Kitimat where he and his Family lived for 20 years.

His spirit, courage and determination will never be forgotten and he will forever remain in his Family’s hearts. Our wish for him is to discover Paradise where he can play at least 9 holes of golf every day.

Thanks to Dr Biglow for his over 24 years of caring for Dick and also for

the 3rd Floor Staff at the Gardens for their care during his final days.
