Richard Lee Britton, 76, of Parksville, BC, passed away on May 10th, 2022, from complications due to cancer.
In 1971, Rick met his future wife Marilyn in North Vancouver and purchased land on the Cottonwood River on the outskirts of Quesnel, BC. This cabin initially had no electricity or running water, and they endured the bitter northern cold with wood heat and Richard's subsistence hunting. After several years, they moved to Quesnel and eventually returned to the city where Rick spent considerable time as a child, Parksville, BC.
They spent the next 45 years together, traveling worldwide and living their adventures until Marilyn's passing in 2014. They owned several businesses; one of the most popular within the Parksville community was the British Bobby restaurant. Here Rick was never satisfied with "good enough" and constantly made improvements and renovations to increase efficiency and the smiles of his customers.
Anyone who had contact with Rick would describe him as responsible, reliable, generous, and caring. His daughter Tracie (Kevin), son William (Yue), granddaughter Hannah, companion Sylvia, and friends and family spread throughout the world will greatly miss him.
Thank you to all the friends and neighbours who offered their love and support and the hospice and home care teams for their help and care.
