ROBERT JOHN (JACK) GILLIS
Passed away peacefully on Saturday May 12, 2007 at 89 years of
age. He was born in Lockwood,
Saskatchewan on the 20th. November 1917. He joined the RCAF &
served in WWII overseas & spent
more than twenty-five years as an
officer in the Air Force. He retired
from the Air Force in 1964 to British
Columbia & lived with his wife Enid
in White Rock, Victoria, Grand Forks
& Qualicum Beach. Jack & Enid
spent their final years together enjoying their new home & gardening
in Qualicum Beach, Van. Island.
Jack was predeceased by the love
of his life Enid Mary nee Sunderland
on September 18th 1995 & his elder
sister Verna in 1990. He is mourned
by his younger sister Una New
(John); & Jack & Enid's six children;
Jim (Gloria), Mike (Micheline) Lesley
Matthews (Ed), Bonnie, Rod, Bill
(Thea), 10 grandchildren & 5 great
grandchildren with two more on the
way.
Jack spent his last 2 years happily at Peace Portal Lodge in White Rock. The Family wishes to thank the staff & the residents for making his last years so pleasurable. Cremation by Fraser Heights Funeral Home, Surrey; due to relatives living in far-off places, there will be a celebration of his life held at White Rock in September 2007 (to be announced). In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Society or the charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
