Lyon, Ronald George
June 24, 1926 - December 17, 2007.
Born in Kelliher, Saskatchewan.
It is with great sadness that we have lost our husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife Nancy, daughter Lyndy Lyon, son Greg Lyon, stepchildren Kathryn Blas (Gordon) and Kim Ansley (Cindy).
He was predeceased by his son Roderick (1978) and his brother Stanley (2006).
His grandchildren Matthew, Rene, Crystal, Ben, Timmothy, Andrea, Jeremy, Douglas, Chad and Jade will miss their “Papa”, as will his five greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ron has had an extended battle with Parkinsons Disease and blindness. He still managed for years to be an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to be in the outdoors. As a school Superintendent he was highly respected for his honesty and integrity throughout his career. He was always there to help teachers reach their goals. After many years as a Superintendent in Hope and Port Alberni he retired from the Kamloops School District in 1985. After retirement Ron worked in the province for Independent Schools.
Ron was a past president of the Port Alberni Gyro Club. He had many good jokes and loved telling them at parties and he enjoyed playing bridge.
A special thank you to all the friends who supported our family through this journey. To all those at “The Gardens at Qualicum Beach” who looked after Ron with such care and understanding, a huge bouquet.
Flowers gratefully declined but if you wish, donations can be made in his memory to the Parkinsons Society BC, 890 Pender Street, Suite 600, Vancouver, BC, V6C 1J9
