Ruth Martha Breen
July 22, 1930 – September 14, 2016
Ruth passed away peacefully at Stanford Place in Parksville, BC at the age of 86. She was predeceased by her husband, John (Jack) Breen, her parents, Friedrich and Martha Eichstaedt, plus her siblings, Eva and Fritz. Ruth leaves behind her daughter, Helga Ernst (Horst) and family of Wiesbaden, Germany; her stepson, Rod Breen (Brenda) of Errington, BC; her stepdaughter, Judie Sanbrooks (Peter) and her family of Parksville, BC.
Ruth was born in Breslau, Germany. After immigrating to Canada, she eventually moved to Vancouver Island and married Jack in 1986. They enjoyed travelling, golfing, plus visiting local farmers’ markets and the QB Seniors’ Centre. Before her health declined, Ruth loved her winter vacations with The Happy Wanderers Travel Club, tending her lush vegetable garden, walking our local trails, and solving crosswords puzzles.
The family would like to thank Dr. Larry McClure, as well as the care staff at The Gardens and Stanford Place.
In keeping with Ruth’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
