It is with sadness, that we announce the sudden passing of Sam Simpson. Sam was predeceased by his son Patrick in 1977 and his sister Mary in 2006. He is survived by his wife Ethel, daughter Gina (Patrick) Regush, grandchildren; Dylan and Jonathan Regush and Suzanne (Paul) DaSilva. Sam is also survived by one brother, two sisters and their families; John (Peggy) Simpson, Patricia (Doug) Clegg and Kathleen Coristine, all of Fairview, AB. Sam was born in Fairview, AB and served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1943 – 1946. His time was spent overseas at the end of WWII. Later he moved to Prince Rupert, BC in 1951 where he met and married Ethel. They lived in Prince Rupert until 1970 and have many life long friends from that time. They moved that year to Kitimat, BC where they lived for 13 years before retiring to Qualicum Beach, BC in 1983. Many friendships were made in both of these communities as well. Sam leaves many happy memories and a legacy of generosity, kindness and joy of life. Our family would like to thank the response teams who attended Sam, for their kindness and professionalism. In addition, we are very grateful to our wonderful, caring neighbours who were also present and supportive of Ethel.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 @ 1:00 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76, 180 Veterans Way, Qualicum Beach, BC. Interment of ashes will take place in Prince Rupert, BC at a later date.
