Shirley Ellen Gilchrist (Harper)
November 23, 1923 – April 23, 2016
Waiting for her with outstretched arms is husband of 65 years, Tom (2008) and son, Glenn (2010). She leaves behind two girls, Linda and Janice, and their families, as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchild.
Mom was a beautiful person, inside and out, always a lady and kind to everyone. She was talented in so many areas but we think her best talent was how she made people feel good about themselves. She was someone that was always up for an adventure and to learn something new.
We want to thank her best friend of 70 years, Kay, for all her kindness in the last while and for being there for Mom. We also want to thank her many friends at The Hawthorne, she had so much fun with them. We especially want to thank Dr. Vanderweyde and Dr. Hickey-Sommerville for their gentle care of Mom. The last people, but certainly not the least, we want to thank are the staff at the Hospice at Trillium. These women and men are angels on earth and we know we could not have gone on this journey with Mom without them.
