Stanley Ernest (Ernie) Buckley

June 1, 2014

May 3, 1935 – June 1, 2014

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, Ernie after a quick decline in his health. Ernie passed away peacefully with his daughters and one son-in-law by his side at Hospice in Langley B.C. on Sunday, June 1, 2014. The family would like to thank the staff at Langley hospice and Dr. Alyson Quan for their kind and compassionate care at this difficult time.

Ernie was predeceased by his parent Stan and Molly Buckley and is survived by his 2 daughters, Cori Rexworthy (Scott) and Jo-Ann Macri (Michael) along with 5 grandchildren.

Ernie moved to Qualicum Bay in 1995 after he retired from his job as a warehouse manager at Vulcan Automotive Equipment in Vancouver. Ernie loved living in Qualicum Bay. He was an avid golfer and was very involved with the Nile Creek Enhancement Society. He spent many happy hours volunteering with the projects that helped see the return of spawning salmon to the creek. In doing so he built many enduring friendships. Ernie was forced to leave the Island and move to Langley in 2013 due to health issues. He missed his “Island” friends greatly but enjoyed being closer to his daughters and their families.

There will be no service by his request. Donations in remembrance of Ernie can be made to the Nile Creek Enhancement Society (nilecreek.org).

His family has many wonderful memories of visiting “Poppa” in Qualicum that will be cherished forever.

Love you forever.
