Walter Norman Evenson

January 4, 1919 – June 26, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce that Walter passed on Sunday, June 26, 2016. Walter was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ella in 2014 and his brothers, Bert, John, George and Russel. He is survived by sisters, Grace Anderson of Port Alberni, and Irene Tegstrom of Lake Country, BC; and brother, Fred Evenson (Argyle) of Melford, SK. Walter will also be greatly missed by his friends, Cameron and Catherine Sinclair; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.

Walter worked as a crane operator at the Port Alberni Mill. He loved square dancing and often traveled throughout BC to take part in events. Walter also enjoyed annual trips to Saskatchewan until 1999 when age prevented him from taking long trips. In his later years, Walter filled his life with gardening – especially flowers, his love of dogs, and his daily coffees at Cockney Pride, Qualicum Foods, and Baileys to socialize with his friends.

A big thank you to the nurses and staff of the West Wing in Trillium Lodge.

A Reception will be held in Walter’s honour at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 8th

at Yates Funeral Service, 1000 Allsbrook Road in Parksville.

We welcome you to come have a cup of tea and share any stories and remembrances you have of Walter.
