Born March 26, 1923, died peacefully at Qualicum Beach on November 14, 2009.

Predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Lorna Lee. Joe was born in Fort William, Ontario and went to sea on a Laker at the age of 17 and later enlisted in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve on July 22, 1942. He served on the “high seas” as a Stoker 1st Class during the war and was discharged on November 14, 1945.

Joe and Lorna were married in Fort William on September 3, 1946 and settled in Red Rock Ontario where he started his long career in the pulp and paper industry. They later moved to Port Alberni, B.C. in 1956 where Joe began a 28 year career with McMillan Bloedel until his retirement in l984.

After retiring, Joe and Lorna lived full time at their Deep Bay retreat and enjoyed gardening, travelling, puttering and being active members of the Bowser community.

Joe leaves to cherish his memory, four children: Cathy Redlack (Don), Bob (Janice), Bill (Chiaki), Janice Nijjar (Manjeet) and his nine grandchildren: Sheila, Kristopher, Michael, Alexander, Andrea, Amy, Amanda, Amee, Jordan, great grand daughter Dayna and his very special friend and companion Kit King.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful care and kindness given to Joe by the Qualicum Gardens staff and residents.

A memorial service well be held at Yates Chapel, 1000 Allsbrook Rd., Parksville at 1:00 pm on

Friday, November 27, 2009.
