William Ralph Christian
February 20, 1943- August 18, 2016
William Ralph Christian, of Errington, BC, passed away after a short illness at the age of 73. His partner, Kathy at his side.
Born in Kincaid, Saskatchewan to Fred and Myrtle Christian.
Survived by his life partner Kathy Mannweiler, sister June King, brothers Perry Christian (Pauline), Bernie Christian (Judy). Also survived by many loving family members and friends who he secretly spoiled. Their “Ralph” will be in their hearts forever.
Ralph worked for Nortel for close to 34 years and travelled the world. He lived in many different countries and experienced a life of adventure.
Pheasant Glen Golf Resort: In the last several years he was the janitor and handyman.
He moved to Vancouver Island in 1999-2000 and became an avid volunteer who gave selflessly to his community.
Errington Volunteer Fire Department: He was a firefighter for 17 years. Ralph quietly went about his duties and was part of the foundation of selfless rescuers who keep our community safe. Being a fire fighter wasn’t enough he also sat on the board of directors for the department.
Qualicum and District Curling Club: He sat on the board of directors for many years. Always keen he volunteered for whatever was needed. You would regularly see him serving drinks behind the bar.
Parksville Curling Club: He volunteered at the bar and for other functions. In recent years he had been working as janitor at the club.
Oceanside Hospice Society: For many years he volunteered and worked cleaning and delivering medical equipment.
Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach (evening): He was a board member for many years. During the summer months he worked cleaning Rotary Park and in winter setting up Rotary House.
Rabbits BC, in recent years he was the treasurer and entered a few of his Dwarf Hotot rabbits in competitions.
A celebration of life will be held, September 25, 2016, from 1:00 to 3:30 pm,
at Pheasant Glen Golf Resort, in Qualicum Beach, BC.
