Winifred Norma Barr

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Norma. She put up a courageous battle against cancer but in the end it was too much for her. She is at peace now and has gone to join her husband Harry and her six brothers and sisters who predeceased her. She leaves behind her nieces Margaret, Carol (Don) in Calgary, Kerry, Susie (Bob) in Ontario, Karen (Simon) in Abbotsford, her nephew Graham (Cathy) in Ladner and many other of her extended family. Norma was born in Glasgow, Scotland and grew up in a busy house full of friends and music. She met Harry while they were stationed in Germany after the war and they were married in 1948. In 1952 they moved to Canada to start a new life eventually ending up in Vancouver. Norma loved music, she grew up with it and right to the end it was a big part of her life. Her other passion was golf and through that hobby she and Harry met many life long friends. After Harry passed in 1996 Norma moved from Qualicum Beach to Ladner where she connected with old friends and met many new ones through the McKee House. Her sister- in-law Pat Trafford was always there for her; to Norma she will always be her number one Pat. A big thank you goes to all the friends, family, and volunteers who supported her during her extended stay at Delta Hospital. No words can express our gratitude to the kind and caring staff at Delta Hospital who kept her spirit bright. A special thanks to Dr. Cheng for his compassionate care of Aunt Norma. A Memorial Service will take place in the Chapel of the Delta Funeral Home 5329 Ladner Trunk Road, Ladner, BC on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 1 pm with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Delta Hospice Building Fund or the Delta Hospital Foundation. On-line condolences may be placed at
