On November 25, Bonnie passed away peacefully in her home on Vancouver Island with her loving husband, John at her side. Daughter of Robert and Florence Simpson, Bonnie grew up in Burks Falls, Ontario and during the war served with the military as a sergeant in the Air Force dental clinic. After the war, Bonnie married her husband John and moved to the Toronto area where they raised their three children. Bonnie attended York University and in 1964 received her Ontario Teacher’s Certificate. She excelled as a primary school teacher and special education teacher. Upon retirement, Bonnie and John moved to their lake home in Beaverton and in 2009 to Vancouver Island. Bonnie is survived by her husband John, her daughter Mary Jane (Barry), daughter-in-laws Loretta and Eileen, and grandchildren Trina, Jonathan and James. She was predeceased by her two beloved sons, David and Jeffrey. Bonnie was an accomplished woman: a veteran, schoolteacher, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to countless others. Ever a gracious hostess, a cook extraordinaire, fashion plate, avid bridge player and lover of books, always confident, and informed; Bonnie’s presence will be sorely missed. Her life is to be celebrated and cherished.
