Balanced editorials

Regarding Paul Kyba’s letter to the editor — I couldn’t disagree more with Kyba’s criticism of The NEWS editor John Harding’s editorials.

Regarding Paul Kyba’s letter to the editor in the Dec. 3 edition of The NEWS (Disappointed in the Media) — I couldn’t disagree more with Kyba’s criticism of The NEWS editor John Harding’s editorials.

For the first time in my 23 years in Qualicum Beach, we finally have an editor who presents a fair and balanced view. Since the last election, he has been quick to point out and challenge ALL members of council when he feels they are out of line.

In years prior to the last election, together on council or not, the original “Gang of Three” — Mayor Teunis Westbroek and councillors Barry Avis and Scott Tanner, otherwise known as the “Gang of No” — received steady support from the former editors and the opinions of anyone with a different view were usually ignored.

Keep it up Harding, you are a breath of fresh air.
