Bears belong, too

We need to figure out what we're doing here

I totally agree with Elaine Thompson of Parksville regarding sow bear hunting and the insanity of it all.

Man’s stupidity, as she puts it, is right on the mark.

We recycle the food scraps, leave them outside,  and we shoot bears that try to eat the scraps. Is this the environmental solution that mankind has come up with?

Are bears not part of the environment also?

People that care about the environment enough to make the effort to recycle are insulted when their considerable efforts are mocked, especially when an animal is killed as the end result of this recycling program.

Where are our wildlife officers? Why are they not trapping and releasing these animals? So what if they try and make their way back into town? Take them far enough into the B.C. interior and they won’t swim back and what if they do?  That’s the job is it not?

It’s excuses all the way.

If a bullet is the only thing we are going to do, then the wildlife officers job is redundant. An RCMP officer can shoot a gun as well as a conservation officer.

We have to get things straight what our position is.
