A big thank-you to all the volunteers in both Qualicum Beach and Nanaimo lawn bowling clubs who contributed to making the three-day provincial men’s and ladies fours championship held July 12-14 a great success.
The weather co-operated, the greens were in great shape and the grounds were just beautiful. The kitchen staff at both clubs came through with flying colors supplying lunches, dinners, snacks and drinks — they kept the participants well fed.
The grounds and garden crews and greens set-up guys did an incredible job of working together to make it happen. It was nice to see so many spectators come out to watch some great bowling and they were not disappointed.
The positive comments and accolades from the participants and spectators augers well for future provincial championships being held in our area. A number of bowlers from the Lower Mainland had not been to the Qualicum club before and were in awe of our clubhouse facilities, including our indoor green.
It is no easy task putting on this type of tournament so take a bow Qualicum and Nanaimo club members — you did Vancouver Island proud. A job well done.
