Celebrate Klees

Instrumental in developing the Qualicum Beach Senior’s Activities Centre, Ann Klees was not mentioned in article.

I am writing with respect to the article ‘Centre Celebrates the Move’ (The NEWS, March 4, page B2).

The article was written celebrating the 10 years since the Qualicum Beach Senior’s Activities Centre moved to its current location on Memorial Avenue. There was mention made of a number of people who were considered key players instrumental in getting the new facility going.

I was dismayed to note the name of Ann Klees was not mentioned. Klees was president of the society for a number of years and was very involved in making arrangements for the centre to move. I believe it is disrespectful for her name not to be included in the list of people who have made significant contributions.

The centre was her passion and she was strong in her commitment to get a suitable facility developed for senior citizens in the community.
