I would like to congratulate the business acumen of the Qualicum Beach town council who were responsible for installing Level 2 electric car chargers at key locations about town.
We have been doing most of our shopping in Courtenay, but they only have one charger.
Before we bought the car, we had watched with interest the installation of chargers in the Oceanside area. Thanks to the council’s long-term thinking, we can use those chargers not only for shopping, but also for many other reasons. The charger at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre completely topped up our Leaf during the recent RDN watershed meeting. How neat is that?
Courtenay’s loss is Qualicum Beach’s gain.
One final point. We had stopped shopping in Nanaimo because the distance is over 70 km versus 35 km to Courtenay. However, Nanaimo has installed a state-of-the-art fast charger, which brought our car up to 80 per cent full charge in less than 20 minutes. So, Nanaimo is back on our list of favourite shopping locations, and we are now visiting downtown shops and restaurants because of the location of this fast charger.
