Heritage Forest there for all; use respectfully

More people are walking in Qualicum Beach’s Heritage Forest as the weather improves and a few issues are occurring more frequently.

More people are walking in Qualicum Beach’s Heritage Forest as the weather improves this season. However, that also means a few issues are occurring more frequently.

Visitors are required to pick up after your pooch when walking the trails and please put the bag in one of the trash receptacles located at every trail entrance.

The bag will not decompose if tossed into the forest as UV sunlight is required to break it down.

People are walking their dogs off leash more frequently. The forest is an on-leash area and should be used as such.

Not all people and dogs are comfortable with dogs off-leash and their needs should be respected.

Also, please do not deposit your yard waste in the forest. These piles will not decompose as it takes insects and microbial activity to break natural litter down.

The forest is there for all to use and enjoy in perpetuity. Please use it respectfully.
