Re: Rain today, gone tomorrow (The NEWS editorial, Jan. 30).

Since moving to Parksville eight years ago I have grown a lot of fruit, vegetables and flowers. I have several rain barrels, which are empty far too quickly once summer droughts start.

I would install a cistern if I could afford to; and save some of the water that drains into my lower-lying lot from three sides during fall, winter and spring. I do what I can to conserve water in my home at all times.

I have long believed that the city should have a bylaw requiring all new homes to have cisterns and tanks in their homes to recycle shower water to flush toilets.
