LETTER: Bullies do not have greater privilege than reasonable people

This will not end well.

Bullies do not have greater privilege than reasonable people. We all have the right to vote. During the pandemic we British Columbians have been asked to vote in both provincial and federal elections.

We did so and it was peaceful. A lifetime ago, as a young father I was a Canadian union member. We voted democratically on our negotiated agreements. We behaved reasonably as is the norm for trade unions and their membership.

Fast forward into retirement, I am grateful for the leadership of our public health officials. Through the good fortune of being a Canadian and British Columbian I have been fully vaccinated and stayed healthy. I give two thumbs up to all our healthcare folks. Bless you all.

It was intimidating to see the vehicles parading through Parksville, horns blaring and the infamous ‘F- Trudeau’ flags flapping. I simply can’t imagine the fear and anger the residents of Ottawa must be feeling.

I wonder if I would tolerate it and how I would react. I still don’t truck with bullies. I do know that I will not negotiate with a bully and I won’t support those who do.

Reasonable people will quickly run out of reasonableness.
