LETTER: Cats don’t seem to solve rat problems for Parksville resident

‘What happens when their numbers increase and they start wiping out our native birds?’

Australia has a huge feral cat problem that started because a domestic cat was set free.

There are two cats that use my flowerbed as their litter box.

I can clean their mess up but what happens when their numbers increase and they start wiping out our native birds?

The argument about cats keeping the rat population down seems a good idea to some people, but the three rats I killed last year were trapped in the same area as the cat toilet.
