I am a resident living near Wembley Road.

I, along with everyone else living near this corridor, have been subjected to a dramatic increase in the number of commercial vehicles using Wembley. Wembley Road is essentially a residential street that has an elementary school at Wright Road.

The number of large, noisy vehicles is having a negative impact on the quality of life along this road.

The dump trucks begin their day around seven in the morning and run until five or six at night. With all the new development taking place in our region, it is no surprise that there would be an increase in these trucks. My concern is the shear number of dump trucks, flat bed trucks carrying all sorts of building materials and even semi-trailers using Wembley Road.

It is no exaggeration to suggest the number runs into the hundreds each day. Is it appropriate to have this volume of heavy commercial vehicles travelling through residential streets with an elementary school to navigate as well?

Most cities restrict commercial traffic to the highways for safety and quality of life reasons. Is it time for our leaders to take a look at alternatives? I believe it is.
