LETTER: Gas prices seem to be higher in PQB

I am curious as to why are gas prices are so much higher in Parksville/Qualicum than other surrounding areas. I was in Comox over recently and gas was $1.37 per litre versus $1.46 in Parksville.

I am curious as to why are gas prices are so much higher in Parksville/Qualicum than other surrounding areas. I was in Comox over recently and gas was $1.37 per litre versus $1.46 in Parksville.

I also noticed gas prices at the station near Denman ferry terminal was also $1.37. Even south down to Ladysmith and Duncan prices are way cheaper. Seems like our area is in a bubble of expensive gas. Now I assume the gas comes from the same refineries on the same fuel tanker trucks so the price difference seems way out of whack.

Is there some reasonable explanation why the service stations in Parksville/Qualicum feel it’s necessary to charge us so much more than the surrounding areas? Maybe it’s time the owners/operators truly explain why we are paying so much more.

I am willing to sit down face-to-face and hear their reasoning. Are they willing to sit down and tell us why? Somehow I doubt it.
