LETTER: Sick feeling after hearing about GoFundMe

I am not here to write about the pros/cons of the Corfield development, but I am for it.

I am not here to write about the pros/cons of the Corfield development, but I am for it.

I felt sick after reading the Thursday, July 19 article, (re: Opposition group starting a GoFundMe group).

Already they have $25,000+ (as of July 25) toward propsed legal fees to “fight and win.”

There are people involved on both sides; this is not a game to “fight and win.”

When I lived on the mainland, a similar group was against the hydro lines getting taller. They raised thousands for legal fees.

They fought and lost.

I looked up the GoFundMe website. Their definition is “fundraising for those in need.”

One has to be careful online.

If not a fundraiser, is it more about flaunting money around?

The very rich versus the very poor using their money as power?

If people in the group, or those donating to the group, can raise $25,000 in a very short time, why not put that money to any charity of your choice?

Give back to our community.
