For the last 18 years and the past three homes we have owned, we have had a three-foot concrete lighthouse, with a functioning light, in our gardens.

On the night of July 19, it was stolen from the front of our house. I will never understand the mentality involved in such an act. They stole it off its base, damaging the wiring, and in their haste left the top behind. What possible use could this be to them, with these parts missing, to say the least.

I guess no one is immune from petty vandalism, no matter what kind of a community they live in. Be warned!
