Middle East focus

I would rather see us there only to provide aid, but it seems that us on the Left focus more on our opposition to military involvement

Re: Editor John Harding’s very well written editorial on the aid Canada gives the Middle East in the midst of extended military mission (Strong and Free, The NEWS, March 26).

Much as I would rather see us there only to provide aid and humanitarian assistance to the refugees, it does seem that us on the Left of the political spectrum tend to focus more on our opposition to military involvement and not mention the good work that is being done in refugee camps.

In other news, our beautiful area’s federal MP is now sitting as an independent — poor guy feels discriminated against.
