Peace dialogue

Our Peace Vigil group with the “Honk for Peace” signs in Parksville has been going for eight years.

Our Peace Vigil group with the “Honk for Peace” signs has been going for eight years.

Once a week for one hour we gather, and in all that time there has never been a motor vehicle accident.

There has been a lot of honks and waves. I guess there are many of us that think honking for peace is not that dangerous. What is far more dangerous and aggravating is war.

We are part of a global community that needs to move towards other ways of resolving our conflicts. War is not the answer. It’s complex and it’s going to take all of us together to find better ways. Each small act of peace and kindness builds towards that change.

I can hold a sign in solidarity with those that are enduring the horrors of war and praying for peace. If this small gesture opens a  dialogue about peace, like now, that’s a good thing. Wouldn’t you agree?
