I’m not a great union supporter but I’m even less supportive of heavy-handed lockout tactics.
It smacks of bully-like behaviour and has left our townspeople with a very bad taste in their mouths.
I don’t think this is the outcome council wanted. In fact, I believe this lockout decision was made based on bad advise from someone looking to be a big shot in this labour dispute.
Time to admit this was a misstep. Get back to the bargaining table with a real offer and salvage what is left of the tourist season, a time to showcase our town at its best.
Our town, our valued workers and our taxpaying citizens deserve nothing less.
