As the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle campaign draws to a close (this is being written on Dec. 21), I would like to thank some folks who have made my volunteering experience so satisfying.
First, to the citizens, friends, visitors and neighbours of Qualicum Beach for your generosity in monetary contributions and for your “Seasons Greetings: towards this bell ringer... a friendly comment and smile goes a long way to ward off the damp chill of a two hour shift.
Second, to John Briuolo and his staff at Qualicum Foods for support of this organization and for providing the bell ringers with complimentary warm beverages during our shifts... no coffee ever tasted this good on a cold, rainy afternoon.
Third, to Jim and Judy (kettle coordinators) and Cathy Bridger for running an excellent schedule of volunteers ensuring each of us had what we needed and kept the Christmas spirit alive and well... it spread exponentially throughout our community.
And last but not least, The Salvation Army for providing many of us the opportunity to give our donations, volunteer our time and assist our neighbors and community in ways that not only benefit the recipients but also do wonders for those giving and volunteering. Everything donated and collected stays in our local community for the betterment of so, so many. This organization has a stellar reputation and it has been an honour and privilege to be associated with them once again this Christmas Season.
