The Parksville Lawn Bowling Club held their mixed triples tournament last weekend and the great bowling went hand in hand with the great weather. The PLBC is gearing up to host the Seasoil Classic June 13-15.

The Parksville Lawn Bowling Club held its highly anticipated mixed triples tournament last weekend under sunny skies and mild temperatures.

Twenty-four teams came out to play, this time on “international” greens, which play wider than the regular greens.

The bigger playing surface made for a different view of the game and possibility of some unique shots as well.

Winners of the early draw and the club’s Mixed Triples Champions was the team of Mick Rix, Diane Proctor and John Winkleman.

Winners of the late draw were Martin Fereday, Jan Arnelien and Peter Scott.

Tied in second place for the early draw were David Croot, Kathlene Arthorne and Frankie Stemler along with Nell Thomson, Joe Stemler and Jerry Whitney.

Second in the late draw was the team of Jack Lawrence, Ruby Bishop Ryan and Anne Gibson.

Third in the late draw were Ron Davis, Chris Fereday and Hillary Landsdowne.

The club is preparing to host one of its biggest events of the year, the Sea Soil Classic on June 13,14 & 15.

Bowlers will be arriving from up and down Vancouver Island, as well as the Lower Mainland to take part in this event, which will help raise money and awareness for the Oceanside Hospice Society.
