Athletes of all ages and skill levels competed in the Qualicum Beach Triathlon in and around the civic centre Sunday, June 26.
Adult triathletes swam 40 metres (16 pool lengths), cycled 20.5 kilometres and then ran two 2.5-km loops. There were also minor and youth-level triathlon races.
For the first time, athlete’s race times were measured by chips, worn around the ankle and automatically recorded by timing mats around the course.
The day’s events also saw a duathlon, which included a 5K run, followed by a 20.5-km bike, then a 2.5-km run.
It was the first time the event was held since 2019.
