Barrel racers have a blast in Coombs

Coombs Rodeo Grounds were alive with equine action

Coombs rider Paige Noble takes her steed around a barrel on May 12 at the Coombs Rodeo Grounds.

The Island Barrel Racers had a great  turnout at a recent event at the Coombs Rodeo Grounds.

The top riders were in Open: 1D Sara Rathy from Lanzville; 2D Leslie Pederson from Black Creek;  3D Kaila Christie from Courtenay, and; 4D Severin Pederson from Black Creek.

In the Junior class, 1D went to Morgan Davis from Courtenay,  2D to  Meaghan Bergman from Black Creek and 4D to Kim Versluis  from Campbell River.

The senior classes top riders were: 1D Leslie Pederson; 2D Sue Sheppard from Coombs; 3D Carole Herman from Courtenay, and;  4D Kathleen Worth from Merville.

There was one PeeWee, Paige Noble from Coombs, who came out and did some awesome rides. Their next race is at the Coombs Rodeo Grounds, May 26. Racing starts at 5 p.m.
