Parksville's Sunset Lanes bowlers win four first place banners at tournament

Members of Sunset Lanes Bowling in Parksville brought home a great haul from the 28th annual Vancouver Island Championships in Port Alberni.

Members of Sunset Lanes brought a total of four first-place banners home, with first place victories in men’s singles, men’s team, mixed team and overall aggregate (total score).

In the men’s single division, Don Campbell finished in first place and bowled an average of 293.75. Tom Moore finished second, bowling an average of 293.25, leaving them two pins apart in their scores.

Campbell and Moore teamed up with Mike Russell, Jason Fowler, Hank Krahn and Terry Evoy to take first place in the men’s team event. The ladies Team event saw Pat Sampson, Linda Raymond, Melissa Macrae, Angie Krahn, Barb Parkin and Gloria Russell finish in second place.

The crew that calls Sunset Lanes home also took home first place in the mixed team event. Don Campbell, Hank Krahn, Mike Russell, Melissa Macrae, Linda Raymond and Angie Krahn all teamed up to win this event.

Putting all their scores together through the tournament, the Sunset Lanes team finished with an aggregate score of 23,272 overall. This was tallied from all matches.

Linda Raymond also managed to come up with a fourth place finish in the ladies singles event and Pat Sampson took home one of four all–star nods on the women’s side with an overall average of 220.40.

On the men’s side, it was Tom Moore and Don Campbell finishing first and second again, this time Moore took first with an overall average score of 287.10 to Campbell’s average of 266.62.
