NANOOSE BAY - Wheelchair athlete Michelle Stilwell is one of three finalists for SportBC's Athlete with a Disability award in March - part of the organization's annual Athlete of the Year Awards celebration.
Stilwell is a three-time Canadian Paralympic gold medalist in wheelchair racing, who broke her ninth world record in June of last year at the 2011 U.S. Paralympic Track and Field National Championships in Florida.
Stilwell is up for the SportBC award, presented by the Province of B.C., and faces competition from Langley's Braedon Dolfo (BC Blind Sports Athletics) and Vancouver's David Scott Patterson (swimming).
SportBC's Athlete of the Year ceremonies take place March 8 at the River Rock Resort in Richmond. Other awards presented at the ceremony include Best of B.C., a people’s choice award presented to an outstanding professional or amateur B.C. athlete.
