Oceanside U18 squad captures Cloverdale hockey tournament title

Oceanside U18 rep hockey team dominated at the 2022 Cloverdale Memorial Tournament and brought home the gold.

There were 10 teams from across British Columbia that competed in the tournament held at Surrey Sports Complex, Nov. 10 to Nov. 13.

Oceanside ended with a three wins and one overtime loss in the round-robin games. They advanced to the semifinals and took on the host Cloverdale. It was a one-sided clash with Oceanside scoring a 9-1 victory to earn their spot in the gold-medal game.

In the final, Oceanside took on Vancouver Island League rivals Powell River Kings. Oceanside continued their strong play and stopped Powell River 5-1 to earn the gold medal.

The Oceanside team was led by head coach Joe Snyder and assisted by Ryder Campbell and Mike Mowatt. The players are Ty Boulton, Gage Boulton, Seth Medves, Kyle Ralston, Carter Baynes, Tyler Turner, Willem Whitehead, Markus Goodman, Billy Snyder, Wade Wesnedge, Kash Nicklin, Teigen Campbell, Mason Baynes, Riley Hammill, Mason Watts, Trevor Spencer-Dahl, Peyton O’Connell, Seth Corlazzoli and Rylan Flynn.
